Nilgiris

Nilgiris means “Blue Mountain” in Hindi. This spectacular mountain range in Southern India is part of the Western Ghats chain. Tea was first planted here in 1835. Nilgiris now produces 10% of India’s total tea production. Tea is grown here throughout the year at elevations up to 7500 ft. among the eucalyptus and cypress trees. Tea from this region is known for its fragrant brisk character.
