Dan Cong Black
$9.50 – $82.75 (from $1.22/cup)
This intensely aromatic tea has notes of tropical fruit and plum with hints of honey. It has a medium body amber liquor and a lingering aromatic finish and smooth astringency.
Description
The perfect marriage of oolong and black tea. This Award winning tea is a traditional oolong varietal fermented as a black tea. The result is an amazingly smooth and fruity tea with little astringency and the fragrance and mouthfeel of the finest oolongs. We love the nuances that come out with different brewing styles. When prepared in a western style method, the tea is one of the finest fruity black teas available. When prepared in the gong fu method, it is like a rare complex oolong. Each way is outstanding in its own right.
Nicholas –
A superb, refined and aromatic tea. Dan Congs are some of the most aromatic teas out there and this one holds true to its type.
It opens with the aroma of grapefruit blossom, followed by some roasted notes in the aroma and flavor. Those roasty/nutty base notes give way to a soaring fruity, floral flavor (grapefruit, plum, chrysanthemum). The finish is marked by sweet spice and the lingering aroma of citrus blossom.
Note: I brewed this closer to eastern/gong fu style with 2.5 grams in 2.5 fl oz over 7-8 infusions
