Description

This tea originates in Píng kēng tóu (坪坑头) village near Phoenix Mountain in Guangdong Province. The original mother tree of yā shǐ xiāng (鴨屎香) is around eighty years old. There are a number of legends as to the origin of the name of this highly prized oolong. One favorite is that the farmer who first grew it was so impressed with the quality of tea produced that he wanted to protect the uniqueness of his crop by telling others that it was grown using duck shit as fertilizer, creating the name “duck shit fragrance”. Luckily the tea bears no resemblance to the amusing name. This tea is best-enjoyed gongfu style as the flavor opens up with multiple infusions and continues to develop over time.

Brewing Instructions

Everyone experiences tea differently. These instructions are for western style brewing and are suggestions only. Adjust to your preferences and enjoy!
Tea: 2.5 grams per 6-ounce (175mL) cup.
Water: 190°F (88°C).
Steep: 3 minutes.
