Organic Sencha Hiraki Asamushi
$4.75 – $29.25 (from $0.52/cup)
This delicious Sencha has a more pronounced roasted aroma and is not as sweet as our Isagawa Sencha. It is a well-balanced flavor with a more complex brothy umami quality. This tea pairs well with food and it is great for warming up on a cool autumn night.
Description
This high-grade first flush Sencha has a balanced richness. Its umami taste is a result of amino acids in the leaf that survive the steaming but not other production methods. This organic tea is grown in Shizuoka Prefecture about 130 km southwest of Mt. Fuji. The farm has produced organic teas for over 30 years.

Really delicious and enjoyable tea! Great mouthfeel and we’ll balanced umami taste, no bitterness and good lingering aftertaste.
Definitely a must try for anyone interested in tasting a really good Japanese sencha.
I brewed just under 2 teaspoons at 140f for one minute in about 8 oz of water. Perfect!
2nd and 3rd steeping, same temp but only 10-15 seconds each.
Enjoy!

I agree with Chad’s review above. This is an excellent Sencha that hits all the marks. I’ll add that, for me, it offered an excellent balance of energy vs calming affect.
When great Japanese green teas bring that vibe to the table, they’re second to none in my book.
