Jin Xuan Milk Oolong

$6.25$34.40 (from $0.61/cup)

4/9/2021 – New stock is here! Harvested in November 2020, we are excited to offer this exceptional oolong. Initially, you are greeted with the vibrant green color of the dry leaves and a fresh sweet vegetal aroma. Once brewed it produces an aroma that suggests honeysuckle and melon while the flavor is reminiscent of sweet summer squash. The light green liquor has a luxuriously creamy mouthfeel and a long lingering finish.

This is my first milk oolong, so I guess I don’t have anything to compare it to, but this tastes… surprisingly milky! Go figure. The description is also spot on about smelling like honeysuckle. I was looking for something unflavored to try, and, again, not that I’m an expert here, but I’m happy with this one.

Jin Xuan is also known as “Milk Oolong” (Nai Xiang), and originates from Taiwan. This tea varietal is well suited to high altitudes and is produced in Alishan in the central mountains of Taiwan at an altitude of 1100 meters. The tea has a naturally creamy mouthfeel which originally contributed to the name “milk oolong”. Many producers add artificial milk flavoring to enhance this. Our Jin Xuan has no added flavors,  the complex flavors and aromas from artisan craftsmanship shine on their own.
