Description
This tea grows near Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County. The #18 varietal was developed in the 1990s by the Taiwanese Tea Research and Extension Station. It is a hybrid of Camellia Sinensis and Camellia Formosensis, which is native to the island of Formosa. The TTES was created in 1903 to improve tea plantations and develop new and better cultivars. This unique varietal has a distinctive minty flavor. It is also bug-bitten by the native Leafhopper. This produces an enzymatic reaction that creates a natural sweetness in the tea.
