Tung Ting “Orchid Flavor” Toasted
$4.00 – $21.00 (from $0.31/cup)
This delightful tea is lightly oxidized to create a beautiful, floral aroma and taste with a creamy mouthfeel. There is a touch of butterscotch on the lingering finish.
Description
Brought to Taiwan from China’s Fujian province in the mid 19th century. Tung Ting has the reputation of being one of the first Taiwanese teas. “Tung Ting” (or sometimes “Dong Ding”) literally means Frozen Peak. Grown on a mountain overlooking Lugu Valley on one side and Sun Moon Lake on the other. This tea is grown at elevations up to 1000 meters at some of the highest elevation tea gardens in Taiwan.

Just great. It’s complex and super smooth at the same time. I get some floral notes like Lilac, some sweet fruit notes like papaya, and a bunch of rounder notes along the lines of butterscotch. Highly recommended.

I like this as an budget friendly daily cuppa. Not as complex as many oolongs but a nice easy drinking tea with some floral notes. Doesn’t stand up to multiple steeps.
